Stereo Rose- What is your story?

Photobucket

Hi guys! Sorry I've been so M.I.A. lately- work has kept me kinda busy lately, but I definitely wanted to share my thoughts on Stereo Rose, since it seems to be such a hot topic lately, right? So, if you can stomach a bit more on Stereo Rose, keep reading!

Ta-Da!

Up-Close and Personal with my Stereo Rose!! :D

Ok so like everyone, I have Stereo Rose story: I pre-ordered one from my Nordies MA about 1 week prior to the release. She said they'd only received 3! Well, I had heard a lot of horror stories online about people whose pre-orders didn't pan out, so to ensure I got my hands on SR, I woke up "early" on Tuesday- 5:30am my (Alaska) time. Pretty early, right? Well the problem is, that is 9:30am Eastern time, so by that time, even though the site accepted my order, it was kinda late, and I had a gnarly feeling that it wasn't going to go through just like everyone else, so I hurried and ordered it on Nordstrom.com. A couple hours later, it was sold out there as well, but around the same time I got a shipping confirmation from them, saying it had shipped- no tracking, just confirmation. I had a "I'll believe it when I see it" mentality, but sure enough, I later got an additional email confirming the tracking #. The good thing is, they shipped it from the Anchorage Nordstrom, is the closest Nordstrom to me, even though it is still 700+ miles away from me. Anyways, so it arrived on Saturday! So excited!

Now, I have to admit that I wanted Stereo Rose mostly for the hype. Sure, it looked like a gorgeous product, but I was still more interested in getting my hands on Stereo Rose, just to get my hands on Stereo Rose. Sad but at least I'm honest, right? :P But when it arrived, I was so pleasantly surprised! It is a medium pinky-red coral color, and in the pan, it looks a little too deep for my skintone (NW20), but when applied it is actually sheer enough to not require a light application. It adds such a pretty, flush glow! And, because of the rose shade, it acts as a blush and a highlighter in one.

Oh, and...I had heard that Laura Gellar's 'Pink Grapefruit' was a dupe. I bought this last year, but haven't used it much, but I decided to pull it out to compare the two:

Sure enough, they are uncannily similar in the pan. However, when applied, LG's tends to be a bit darker, and has less color payoff. It is kinda weak when swatching it. But, if you couldn't get your hands on Stereo Rose, it may be worth looking in to Pink Grapefruit.

Oh, and a quick shot of me wearing Stereo Rose:

So, while I'm waiting for the rest of my In the Groove goodies, let's hear from you-- what is your Stereo Rose story?

Yay you got SR! Lol we all have a SR story (I posted mine on my blog) but basically Nordstrom screwed me with their presale and by the time I found out, everywhere had sold out. I had to resort to Macy's for the hook up :)

One of my close girl friend's wanted one and I work at Macy's, so I called and got one of my co-workers to hold one for me to get the day it released. Got there and picked it up with no issues, and started playing with the tester... and I wanted one, lmao. That's pretty much it! I ended up calling a different Macy's the next morning and they had 2 on hold for a lady that never showed the night before... went and got it, and now it's mineeeee!
It looks lovely on you! I'll post a FOTD wearing it :)

Great post! I got my Stereo Rose online after seeing tweets that the collection was finally live online. Good thing I did -- I had asked to put one on hold at my counter and when I went to get it, it wasn't there. They said they couldn't put anything on hold. Luckily my online order arrived that day. Whew.

I agree that I mostly wanted SR for the hype and of course to add to my MSF collection. Stayed up late hoping that it would come up online around midnight but never did. Got to work early to check online but of course it was sold out. Stalked nordstrom.com and ordered 2. Waited 3 hrs for confirmation of receiving my order..the next day (Wed) got a tracking number. I didn't want to get my hopes up until I had it in my hands and on Thursday received it. Phew! Never had to work so hard for MAC! Even paid an arm and a leg for shipping but SO worth it. =)

I hear you about sometimes giving into the hype and getting certain products because of it. This was kind of me with Marine Life. I thought it was really pretty (only got to swatch a tester, EVERYWHERE around Toronto was sold out within hours of store openings and I went in the evening), but then I hear all this crazy hype, it sold out in 2 hours blah blah blah. Long story short, I was able to get one shipped to me from another store and I haven't touched it since I got it. Well, ok, some of that is because I don't want to ruin the pretty gold overlay.

BUT ANYWAY, my Stereo Rose story... I got it when it came out in 2005 or whatever it was and was obsessed with it for a while after I got it, but probably haven't touched any of my msfs in a couple of years. They're pretty to look at, but can sometimes be a bit on the shimmery/pore enhancing side and I just tend to reach for my blushes more.
